I was supposed to be his mate. Instead, I became his executioner.

When I was forced to mate with the cruel Alpha Richard, I never expected to end up claiming his power—or his Pack. Now I'm an Alpha with no idea how to lead, three passionate mates who'd die to protect me, and a Pack desperate for change. But Richard's loyal followers aren't done with me yet.

As I fight to reform the Pack and protect those I love, I find myself drawn to Richard's son Ray—the one wolf who risked everything to save my life. With four devoted mates and a target on my back, I begin dismantling generations of toxic tradition. But Richard's followers have other plans, and they're willing to spill innocent blood to maintain the old ways.

As the body count rises and threats lurk in the shadows, I must embrace my newfound power and become the Alpha my Pack needs—before everything I've fought to protect is destroyed.

In a world where female Alphas are rare and multiple mates unheard of, I'm about to break every rule in the book. If I survive long enough to write new ones.

Some traditions are meant to be broken. And I'm the Alpha meant to break them.

Chapter One Look Inside

Being an Alpha sucks ass.
Not even a day after gaining the position I was decided on this fact.
I’d woken feeling like a brand-new wolf after everything that had happened, ready to take on the world. Power flowed through me, reminding me of the position I’d just claimed.
For a few moments I’d felt a strange peace, like everything was going to finally be okay.
Until everything that the position entailed was dropped in my lap.
“Look, being an Alpha won’t be easy, these people don’t quite know you. Sure, they hated Richard, but they’d probably rather be led by one of their own rather than an outsider. You’ve clearly made some friends in the short amount of time you’ve been here, so see if they can help you connect with the rest of the Pack. The power you’ve attained from Richard will help with this, but power isn’t everything,” my father said as he sat on the couch with me.
I nodded slowly as I flicked my gaze between him and Neema while I tapped my fingers on the handle of my cane.
I felt like some old man walking with it, but I was lucky I could even walk. The only reason I was doing so well was thanks to the transfer of Alpha power right after my horrific injury. Which apparently was a one-time thing and wouldn’t be the same for future injuries. Sure, I’d heal faster than your typical werewolf, but not as quickly as I had with this wound.
“Taylor, you’ve been through an insane amount of change and trauma in the past few days, I understand if you may want to step back and take a day or two to gather yourself. If this is what you’d like to do, tell us, so that your father can act on your behalf. Being the Area Enforcer and your father gives him this right, but I will also remain here to council you,” Neema said as she clasped her hands together. Her gaze was heavy as she awaited my response.
Alpha. I was the Alpha.
I drew in a deep breath, still blown away by it.
Was I ready to take on that title? I really wasn’t sure. Hell, my life had been one hell of a whirlwind lately.
Leading a Pack that had been ruled by a wretched dictator was not something I was prepared for.
“I would like some help, please,” I admitted after a moment. “I don’t want to step right back, though. If I’m to be Alpha, I need to show I’m capable of it no matter what. But I also know I need people I can rely on,” I said slowly as I mulled over it. Stepping back would show weakness, although I doubted many of the Pack would see it as that after everything I’d been through. But I wasn’t the only one who’d suffered at the hands of Richard. Mia had as well, and she’d continued on, being the best mother and mate she could be despite his cruelty.
If she could do it, so could I.
“Of course.” Neema nodded as she shot my father a look. I focused on him, and the worry rooted within me lessened just a little at his proud expression.
“We’ll help you, Taylor. You can always count on your family,” he said as he rose and fixed his gaze on the sliding doors.
I turned, sensing someone approaching moments before I saw Mia appear outside on the porch. She raised her hand to knock, giving us a questioning look through the glass.
“Come in,” I called out when both my father and aunt looked to me for approval.
Mia entered and gave me a brisk nod.
